Originally from Figueira da Foz, I have studied and worked in different places: Univ. of Coimbra and the High Technology Inst. of Bergen (BSc thesis), Hammersmith Hospital in London (MSc thesis). I carried out my PhD at EMBL in Heidelberg, my postdoc at Univ. California San Francisco, and then moved to New York, NYU, as Faculty to co-direct a Research Center. I have been working on genetics, developmental & cellular biology, regenerative medicine and I am passionate about research, leadership and creativity.
