Inês Godet
Inês Godet grew up in Trancoso and studied Biological Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico. In 2015, she moved to the United States to conduct research at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD), where she completed her master’s work. She remained at Hopkins to pursue a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, focusing on breast cancer metastasis. She is currently a Research Associate at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where she studies lung cancer metastasis.
She has been actively involved in PAPS since 2017, first co-leading the Washington DC/Baltimore chapter, later joining the board, and currently serving as co-chapter leader in New York since 2023. She is passionate about strengthening connections across the Portuguese diaspora in North America and Portugal.
Inês is deeply committed to community building. In addition to recently being elected President of PAPS, she serves as Co-President of the MSK Postdoctoral Association, is a Young Councilor for the Portuguese Diaspora Council, and is co-founder of HOPTEC.

Sílvia Curado
Originally from Figueira da Foz, I have studied and worked in different places: Univ. of Coimbra and the High Technology Inst. of Bergen (BSc thesis), Hammersmith Hospital in London (MSc thesis). I carried out my PhD at EMBL in Heidelberg, my postdoc at Univ. California San Francisco, and then moved to New York, NYU, as Faculty to co-direct a Research Center. I have been working on genetics, developmental & cellular biology, regenerative medicine and I am passionate about research, leadership and creativity.
