PAPS celebrates 20 years since its foundation, and invites you for a day of exciting and engaging talks and discussions. We will cover diversified topics:  from our beginnings, the developments brought about by our founders, the talents of past and current members, to the innovation opportunities that can be implemented by Portuguese in Portugal and North America.

Program

Session I – 20 years later, where are we headed as a network of Portuguese graduates abroad?

PAPS founders and invited speakers will be revisiting the history of PAPS from its foundation, and frame it within the context of present and future opportunities, and the new diaspora challenges.

  • How is the Portuguese graduate diaspora changing?
  • How can we foster interactions between the evolving diaspora and Portuguese Institutions and Industry?


Session II – Powering the Innovation Wave: how are we fuelling technology advancements?

Portuguese scientists, technologists, and entrepreneurs will explore topics at the forefront of scientific development. This session will include a discussion on fostering interactions between academia and industry to drive innovation.

  •  What are the state-of-the-art scientific developments, new trends and opportunities?
  •  How can we capitalize on the strengths of academia and industry towards technological innovation?


Session III – Crossing Disciplines and Nations: the potential of the multi-mindset

Experts from different fields will discuss the benefits and challenges of collaboration between different nations and disciplines to create novel solutions.

We will focus on “multi” approaches as a path to the future: multi-national, multi-discipline and multi-platform, and how a big-picture mindset allows for better problem-solving.

  •  How can unexplored opportunities and unexpected partnerships drive innovation?
  •  How can we efficiently bring together cross-discipline talent to create synergies in a changing world?
