PAPS invites you to a special film evening dedicated to stories of migration, told through two distinct cinematic voices from within our own community.

Both filmmakers Lia Fietz and Karlee Rodrigues will be present for a Q&A conversation after the screenings.

We will screen PassPort, a short fiction film by Lia Fietz, in which a young Portuguese woman arriving in a new country is pulled aside for questioning. What begins as a routine airport interaction gradually reveals the emotional weight of crossing borders, and the quiet tensions around identity, belonging, and perception.

The program also features the short documentary Os Sonhos Continuam, by Karlee Rodrigues and Marlee Rodrigues, which reflects on the lived experience of the Portuguese diaspora – exploring memory, resilience, and the ways dreams are carried forward across generations.

Together, these two films approach immigration from different angles, one intimate and fictional, the other rooted in real lives, yet both speak to what it means to leave, to arrive, and to build a sense of home between places.

An evening of cinema, reflection, and shared experience.
